Would It Be More Beneficial To Have A Bachelor’s Degree On Top Of An Associate’s Degree In Ultrasound Tech?

Right now, I am attending a pretty nice University. What I really want to become is an ultrasound tech, which I know you only need an associate’s degree to become. My Univeristy does not currently have a program for an associate’s degree in ultrasound, therefore, I would have to transfer to a community college.
However, I do not want to leave my current University because it is very prestigious, a great opportunity, and I have a FULL scholarship to attend there. Many people would be glad to take my place….
If I stay, and get a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health (on top of later getting an associates in ultrasound), would I be more likely to get higher paid job as an ultrasound tech?
Or should I just major in something completely different?
I am currently going to be a Junior this fall. Thanks!!

Of course it would be better to get a Bachelor’s degree. Associates Degrees are really meant to be a stepping stone to a further education and not as an end to themselves. That is why Universities don’t grant the AA or AS degree. Instead, they give a different label to people who leave after two years — College Dropouts.
Look at the link below. From it you can see that people with an AA only make 3/4 what people with a BA or BS make. You can also see that their unemployment rates are 50% higher.
What you can’t see is that the people with a Bachelor’s Degree are happier in their work.
    Stay in school.
