There are a number of areas in radiology. Which one is best is up to you.
general radiography
sonography
nuclear medicine
CT
MRI
mammography
cardiovascular-interventional radiography
bone densitometry
radiation therapy
I recommend taking all the sciences you can, physics, chemistry, and algebra.

Regarding Elfinmagic’s answer… he is creating unnecessary fear. See http://hps.org/publicinformation/ate/q14… for more information on radiation safety.

OK first off. Ultrasounds don’t use X-Rays they use sound waves, MRI uses Magnets not X-Rays. If you take an X-Ray Tech class at Vo-Tech or Jr. College it will allow you to work with CT and X-Ray machines. Ultrasound tech is usually a separate class and MRI is the same. It is very difficult to walk into a hospital without the proper training and have them train you for the position, but some hospitals will. Some Vo-Techs will offer X-Ray tech classes. And a lot of Vo-Techs allow Juniors and Seniors in HS to take their courses as HS credits. Most of the classes though you will have to take at a college or Jr. College. and some HS’s do allow you to take courses in college if you have enough credits to graduate without those classes that will be taken up at the college. All are good fields to go into. I would not really suggest X-Ray though because prolonged exposure can cause Cancer and birth defects. Ultrasound probably has the best pay off in the end, because usually that is one of the happiest moments in a person’s life and you get to share it with them.

Well I work at the hospital as a junior volunteer. You should try volunteering in your state that way you can talk to the doctors about your future in the job you want. If you become close with the doctor and get a recommedation your set for your future good luck
