What Are The Most Popular Fields of Medicine To Enter as A Career?

Which fields of medicine pay the highest salaries? Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Surgeons? What about malpractice insurance premiums, the highest, the lowest?

I think if I was going to persue a medical career, I would choose psychiatry because of all the breakthroughs recently in brain chemistry or dermatology because the new treatments for skin cancer and acne.

In remote areas of the US where psychiatrists are not easy to find, waiting lists are long and availability is scarce.

I recently read that dermatology is highly competitive. So is plastic surgery.

    highest malpractice-obgyn and neurosurgery
    highest salary-neurosurgery
no life at all-transplant surgery, cardiothoracic surgery
Least money with most annoying patients-pediatrics (okay the children are cute but the parents will call you 24-7 to ask about juniors snotty nose)
Pathetic reimbursement with high work-internal medicine
Easy job with a lot of money-radiology or dermatology
Flexible schedule, reasonable but not high income-psychiatry

The above comments are correct: derm and plastics are VERY competetive. This is because cosmetics is the only cash and carry medicine in the market these days. Everyone else is struggling big time.
