Ultrasound Technician?
I’m in the process of choosing what I want to go to school for. I’d really like to do ultrasounds (like in an obgyn). My local community college offers Radiology Technician, is that what I would need to take for that career path? Or is it possible to take a class on just ultrasounds? Doing the ultrasounds are really the only thing I’m interested in.

Normally a person would become a radiographer first, and then do another course to specialise in Sonography, so I think you should do the Radiology Technician’s Course first. You never know, you might even find something else you enjoy more, while working on your placements.
Good luck!

To do ultrasound, you must specifically go through an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Radiologic Technology is for x-ray and is totally different (and you don’t have to do RT first to get into ultrasound). Many Sonography programs are open to people without a medical background, but there are some that require a prior degree. You will need to contact the school to find out what they require.

An Ultrasound tech makes more money than a Rad Tech. Radiology is x-rays. Ultrasound is ultrasound machines so they are totally different
You can attend a hospital based program (and earn a certificate) or do a 2 years program in a community college
Ultrasound, also called Sonography: Salary range is $40,960 – 77,520
X-ray, also called Radiology: Salary range is $32,700 – 68,900
