Jennifer Bell, a 22-year-old from Thorpe End, Norwich, complained to her doctor for eight months about her severe headaches, nausea, stiff neck, and diarrhea, only to be told that she suffered from stress. At long last the doctor/bureaucrat got tired of her complaints and referred her to a neurologist, who put her on the 13-week waiting list for a “relatively urgent” MRI…

8th August 2007

A woman who had complained to her GP of severe headaches for almost a year collapsed and died of an undiagnosed brain tumour.

Jennifer Bell, 22, had been told she was suffering from stress but after months of illness had finally been referred to a neurologist.

She then faced a 13-week wait before a ‘relatively urgent’ MRI scan could be carried out.

Three days before the longawaited appointment she collapsed at home and died later in hospital.

Coroner Mr Armstrong recorded a narrative verdict, saying: “I think there is no doubt that the tumour caused her death but it is also quite clear that early detection would have resulted in medical intervention of some kind.”

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=474029&in_page_id=1774

Another triumph for socialized medicine: Jennifer Bell will never grow old enough to burden the system. Plus, the government saved the cost of the MRI, freeing more tax money to cover those costly administrative salaries

My doctor was arrested and charged with trafficking Hydrocodone. They are accusing him of being a pill mill (a doctor who prescribes pain meds without actual need). As far as I know he isn’t just handing them out. He seemed very legit and made sure I had an actual injury before prescribing pain medication.

So within the last month he was charged and arrested. I called the office when I saw it on the news a few days later, and they said the office was still open and operating. I didn’t ask specifically if he is still allowed to prescribe my meds.

So if he was arrested, does he automatically get his ability to prescribe pain meds taken away? I would assume he would have to go to court and be found guilty before his license is revoked. I just want to know if I should show up at my next appointment and pay the money like normal, or find a new doctor. I cant afford to pay the visit fee if he cannot prescribe my pain medicine.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Specifically the law about it. Is he innocent until proven guilty? Is there a website I can check to see if his license is still good? Also, am I doing anything wrong by seeing him? I mean I have an injury, I am in pain, and I have MRI‘s to prove it. I hope I don’t get in any trouble for seeing him.

I am in the state of Florida.

If a person gets a A.S in radiography can they be cross trained in fields such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear medicine? Or does nuclear medicine need its own A.S degree? I’m trying to find a school close by to get a B.S in radiography but having hard time finding one in the Louisville-Cincy area. If I do get a B.S in radiography will I get a job directly in the Mri field and skip being a x-ray tech? What I’m really interested in is Nuclear medicine. I found a school that gives an A.S for Nuc Medicine but if I go this route will I not be able to cross train in the other medical imaging modalities( MRI,CT,..)??? Bascially I want to be certified to do it all..is this possible.. how long would something like that take…could it be done with an A.S or must it be a B.S in radiography?
