radiology certificate vs. majoring in the field-?

I’m considering majoring as a radiology technician. A friend informed me that instead of going to school for two whole years that I could get a certificate that would take a few months, get an actual job (so that I can start making money) and then they’d pay for my education if I wanted to further myself in that field.

First of all, i wanted to know if that is true.
Secondly, what’s the difference in pay for a radiology technician who went to school for two years as opposed to one who just got the certificate?

I want to major in radiolgy, i want to be a radiologist(like the doctor who looks at the imagesand diagnoses) and i dont know a good university to go to. does simon fraser in vancouver have that or yale or stanford? I live in bc. do you also know how much a year salary they make?

I really don’t want to be a lawyer, but I love my government class in college, and I would be interested in changing my major from Radiology to government if I knew that there is a good job outlook for pursuing a major in government, can someone please help me in answering this question, greatly appreciate.
