Radiology Technician……?

I want to work in Radiology when I’m older (im 14 now) and have been thinking about it for a while. I especially want to do it for little kids, I think it’s a pediatric radiologist. What high school classes should I take to prepare myself for this and what should I take in college? Will I have to go to med school?
Thank you for your answers!

You should take biology in school. There are many schools that offer two years program for technician. If you want to be a radiologist, you have to have much higher education. Baylor and Allied Health have programs for technician. There are others, you just have to google in your own state.

you won’t have to go to med school if you want to take the X-rays or do ultrasound or cat scan, that’s a technician. If you want to read x-rays and interpret them then yes you have to go to medical school (that’s a radiologist, a MD). You can become a technician in a few years (2or 3). Important classes to take would be biology and anatomy/physiology. Also, there is actually a lot of Math and now computers in this field. X ray machines are more advanced (films ran, and sent by a computer/software).

Go onto your community college’s website and see if they offer a RT course there. Then that way, you can get an idea about what courses you will need. Sometimes high school’s offer advanced college courses so you can start taking them now.

Definately make sure you take Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, Algebra and Geometry. They are important to any medical or health related field. If you don’t take them in High School, you will only be required to take them in college and it will take you longer.

    Good luck!
