Radiation therapy as a career?
Radiation therapy technology as a career?
Could you please tell me some information/facts about radiation therapy as a career?
Im interested to know:
What are all the duties that one in this field would perform daily? Is it better to work in a clinic or at a hospital? Are radiation therapists always in demand or is it difficult to find work? What is their average annual salary and could i afford to buy an average home someday if I was in this field? Do they wear any special uniform? Any first hand experience or advice about this is very much appreciated…
Thank you so much.
Have a great day.

Cancer centers and some heart clinics use radiation therapists. It should remain in moderate demand. It takes at least 2 years of school, and there are 4 year degrees. A radiologist assistant must wear a lead apron over clothing when working around the radiation, and also a monitor. If you are of child-bearing age and female, there are other precautions as well. You would probably work at a hospital or a high-end clinic that has the large machinery required for the radiation treatment. You would tend to have ongoing patients for periods of a few weeks to a few months, and sometimes they don’t make it, so you have to deal with some emotions (yours, the patients’ and their families). But if you are a nurturing person you can help a great deal. The pay is moderate, but you should be able to buy a condo or small apartment if you have the down payment.
