I am 18 years old and I was in a dirtbike accident I was riding in the ditch and going about 30 miles per hour. There was a huge hole in the ditch and I didn’t see it because the grass was a little big, so when I hit the hole I lost control and fell. I had a helmet (0 professional helmet) which probably saved my life because when I fell I hit my head really hard and suffered a concussion. I also had a little bleeding from my kidneys because my body hit the handle bars. Well I was taken to the hospital, and they took Cat-scans and stuff and said I was okay. I only had a mild concussion and the kidney bleeding would go away if I drank a lot of fluids. This has been two months ago and the hospital just called because the insurance needs more information about the accident. Should I worry about this? Will they not cover the medical bill?

Additional details: I was riding a CRF230F. This is a trail bike not a racing bike. It has 230cc engine. I have been riding dirtbikes since the age of 5 but don’t have a motorcycle license but I never ride on the road just in the ditch, or inside my yard ( I have a one acre yard). I don’t have motorcycle insurance, but I don’t care about the bike. Will the insurance cover this? If it won’t why won’t it cover?

We were at a light and were talking about the light being red and stoping. She is almost three in July. Well about a few seconds later I heard scretching and saw the driver in my rear mirror coming at me and BOOM! Our van was totaled and the truck. He had a big chevy truck. The guy that hit us had no license, no ins, no english speaking and was under the influence of alchcohol. He had a open bear can in his cab.
Thank god my daughter and I made it! I hurt real bad all over, especially my neck. We were taken to the ER by ambulance and were checked out okay. I have a lawyer coming over tomorrow, but should I see a doctor before the lawyer comes? to have on record? Or does it matter, since they ER gave me a CAT scan? my daughter saw her doctor today and was fine. She also had a chest xray at the hosp. She is fine too. oh yes he was arrested and handcuffed but did not get a breath test. Do they do that at the station? I will call tomorrow to see if a report has been made yet?
the lawyer will sue the owner of the truck, it was his bosses truck.

(Can you please let me know what are the main point of this article, I’m kinda confused. Thanks)

My Overall Summary:
This article is discusses mainly about the security of a national ID card. Because, the fear of terrorism that is why they come up with this type of identification card. The author is against this idea because he think by doing this the people have to give up some of their personal privacy which will be vulnerable to these people.

—-> Can someone tell me how can this type of national ID card help America prevent from terrorism?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            Threat of National ID
By: WILLIAM SAFIRE
Published: December 24, 2001
A device is now available to help pet owners find lost animals. It’s a little chip implanted under the skin in the back of the neck; any animal shelter can quickly scan lost dogs or cats and pick up the address of the worried owner.
That’s a good side of identification technology. There’s a bad side: fear of terrorism has placed Americans in danger of trading our ”right to be let alone” for the false sense of security of a national identification card.
All of us are willing to give up some of our personal privacy in return for greater safety. That’s why we gladly suffer the pat-downs and ”wanding” at airports, and show a local photo ID before boarding. Such precautions contribute to our peace of mind.
However, the fear of terror attack is being exploited by law enforcement sweeping for suspects as well as by commercial marketers seeking prospects. It has emboldened the zealots of intrusion to press for the holy grail of snoopery — a mandatory national ID.
Police unconcerned with the sanctity of an individual’s home have already developed heat sensors to let them look inside people’s houses. The federal ”Carnivore” surveillance system feeds on your meatiest e-mail. Think you can encrypt your way to privacy? The Justice Department is proud of its new ”Magic Lantern”: all attempts by computer owners to encode their messages can now be overwhelmed by an electronic bug the F.B.I. can plant on your keyboard to read every stroke.
But in the dreams of Big Brother and his cousin, Big Marketing, nothing can compare to forcing every person in the United States — under penalty of law — to carry what the totalitarians used to call ”papers.”
The plastic card would not merely show a photograph, signature and address, as driver’s licenses do. That’s only the beginning. In time, and with exquisite refinements, the card would contain not only a fingerprint, description of DNA and the details of your eye’s iris, but a host of other information about you.
Hospitals would say: How about a chip providing a complete medical history in case of emergencies? Merchants would add a chip for credit rating, bank accounts and product preferences, while divorced spouses would lobby for a rundown of net assets and yearly expenditures. Politicians would like to know voting records and political affiliation. Cops, of course, would insist on a record of arrests, speeding tickets, E-Z pass auto movements and links to suspicious Web sites and associates.
All this information and more is being collected already. With a national ID system, however, it can all be centered in a single dossier, even pressed on a single card — with a copy of that card in a national databank, supposedly confidential but available to any imaginative hacker.
What about us libertarian misfits who take the trouble to try to ”opt out”? We will not be able to travel, or buy on credit, or participate in tomorrow’s normal life. Soon enough, police as well as employers will consider those who resist full disclosure of their financial, academic, medical, religious, social and political affiliations to be suspect.
The universal use and likely abuse of the national ID — a discredit card — will trigger questions like: When did you begin subscribing to these publications and why were you visiting that spicy or seditious Web site? Why are you afraid to show us your papers on demand? Why are you paying cash? What do you have to hide?
Today’s diatribe will be scorned as alarmist by the same security-mongers who shrugged off our attorney general’s attempt to abolish habeas corpus (which libertarian protests and the Bush administration’s sober second thoughts seem to be aborting). But the lust to take advantage of the public’s fear of terrorist penetration by penetrating everyone’s private lives — this time including the lives of U.S. citizens protected by the Fourth Amendment — is gaining popularity.
Beware: It is not just an efficient little card to speed you though lines faster or to buy you sure-fire protection from suicide bombers. A national ID card would be a ticket to the loss of much of your personal freedom. Its size could then be reduced for implantation under the skin in the back of
(adding missing words from the last sentence in article:)
Its size could then be reduced for implantation under the skin in the back of your neck.
barreling at me that seemed to be going at 50-70 MPH. I for one second thought to accelerate trying to get out of way…one second later I was being cut out of the car by firemen, so apparently I blacked out (head was bleeding and lacerated needed staples). I was firs sold it was his fault then told it was mine..he had no licence and was also sited. I only have liability so my car is totalled and Just was released from hospital giving choice to go home or to rehab center.  All my insurance covers for me is 00.  My cat scans and x rays were over 00 plus three days in hospital..I am told my HMO medicaid will probably pay the rest. I was once run over by a car and the only thing that helped me was chiropractic. Even though I have 7 visits left this year was told by chiropractors secretary that they must tell the HMO if there is a car accident and then the HMO will not pay any visits..including I guess the 7 I am due (I had used 5 and this was the only reason I chose this hmo
1 Is there anyway I can earmark that the insurance pays chiropractic and the hmo pays hospital so I can get chiropratic to get better.  I hurt badly heel, ankle, both knees. leg. back i bad and hip feel (but isn’t broken), also chest, shoulder, neck and head pain
2What natural treatments will get me better.  I am very depressed thinking I will never heal right without chiropractic..
I was on morphine and another high pain killer now that released they only gave me 5 days of davacet so I am worried pain which I already feel will increase.
Please advise.
The owner of the car walked away. The owner currently has a broad form of insurance on his license. The driver had no insurance. I am going to be receiving large medical bills as I was hauled away in an ambulance and put through cat scans and what not in the trauma center. One lawyer office said there is no hope for getting my medical expenses covered…… does anyone know if this is true? I am in Washington State.
I did the Greg Swapp “One Call That’s All”. They informed me that the owner’s broad form insurance covers him only as an individual and since the driver had no insurance that I have to eat it. I would think that I would be covered under the owners insurance yet these guys are telling me i am not….. is this true?
Problem is this; I used to be living in and out of that car. I came up to a brand new intersection and was on my way to a library to check out some books to get me “in the know” of some real estate terms and policies for this new job I just got. The light was red and I was in the turn lane. There was another car in the opposing direction in a normal lane. The light turned green, and as I was making my turn, the other driver stopped in time, I thought he was just an idiot, so I inched forward a bit and froze in panic; another driver in the opposite direction was headed straight for me at a tremendous speed and didnt stop! CRASH! A few moments later, I looked up to find that I was spun completely around, the passenger side of the vehicle was competely caved in and no longer existed, 3 of 4 tires were popped, and the other driver only suffered some front end damage. Long story short, I was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and CAT-scanned…with no medical insurance! I also had no registration on the vehicle, no insurance, and I came to find out that I can no longer have that job due to the fact that my car is completely destroyed.
I was bawling my eyes out at the scene of the accident cause I was so damn scared and in disbelief. I also received word that I had 3 previous traffic violations, including 3 more at the accident (No proof of insurance, no Drivers License [Although I had a perfectly valid one. I just didnt have it with me at the time] and failure to yeild) But the damned intersection had no yield sign, I thought it was just a normal turn lane. And that frickin lady was going 65mph in a 35, and had a full 2 seconds of reaction time and she didnt even hit the brakes!! Someone please answer me this, what the hell is gonna happen to me? I’m jobless and car-less. I’m living at my dad’s now and I have a court date.
What do I tell the judge?? I’m scared to death and so ashamed. I’ve always been the more alert driver than anyone else I’ve seen. I have health problems that I can’t take care of cause I have NO money and NO insurance, and its been 9 months and I still can’t find a job, even though I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE! I’m no criminal or bum, I’m just having a tough time right now. I used to be just a normal guy with a nice car, great job, and beautiful apartment. Now I’m just “some guy with sh*t for luck.” What can I do?
I was  also wondering , say if i become an RT, do i just take the classes at the hospital that i work at to get my MRI License? or how does this work? its it really hard to become an RT with mri license and is there alot of math involved?
A little over a year ago I got into a pretty bad car accident. My car was totaled(windshield cracked, front end ripped off) (a guy and his friends with no license, registered vehicle or insurance hit me when I had a green light). Well I didn’t go in the ambulance that night because I felt fine and thought it would be unnecessary, but on the ride home my neck started to hurt. So my parents took me to the ER just to be safe. They put me in a brace, took a CAT scan. The next day I went to a chiropractor that I would be seeing for the next year and 10 days(as of tonight). After Xrays, I was told to have had bulging discs in my neck and back. I never really knew all of the specifics but was told I should get an MRI if my insurance would cover it a while ago. It started with chiropractic adjustments 3 times a week, then 3 times and massage, then 2 and massage, then my insurance stopped paying. (no more massages, but he still adjusted me). I had a very busy schedule as it was my senior year and I was involved in countless activities(I would sometimes have to leave school at lunch for appointments) so I did have some gaps in my care, like if I couldn’t go to an appointment, then I didn’t have another one set up. I know that caused a problem, but started regularly again, and just recently massages again. I kind of started to live with all of the pain. Until recently, I’ve been in as much pain as I was when I first got into the accident. I finally stood up and confronted my chiropractor at one of my re-exams and told him how I couldn’t stand for 30 minutes doing the dishes without back pain, constant neck and head aches and how I was constantly miserable from the pain, sometimes in tears. I was told I should have been healed after about 6-8 weeks. and here I am over 50 weeks later always in pain. I feel like a 60 year-old and I’m only 17. What am I supposed to do? The treatments help somewhat, but not well enough to keep me out of pain and I can’t stand the thought of living like this for the rest of my life. I don’t want surgery because only 51% of back surgery is effective and that’s a bit extreme for a 17-year old’s back pains, I think. Also, I don’t want to be bed ridden in pain for hours at a time before the age of 25. I just don’t know what to do, but the pain is driving me crazy. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you all so much, my chiropractor is a part of a network of doctors that do non-surgical spinal decompression, but it’s ,000 and I can’t swing that going to a private university. I didn’t know that an inversion table would do the same thing. I usually take ibuprofen and it doesn’t work, and I took aleve last night and it did help. I will look into the other options and I’m planning on getting an MRI to make sure it is just a bulging disc and I’ll speak with my doctor about the other options. Thank you all once again. You can’t believe how relieving it is to know there are other options.
I was in an accident.  i did have 2 beers earlier that day.  I was in a single car accident.  I was alone.  I was injured.  I couldn’t do the standard sobriety tests so the cop asked for a blood sample.  He said if I refused I would lose my license for a year.  I gave him the blood.  He said if I fail the blood test I would hear about it in about 14 days and my license would automatically be suspened for failing.  He said if i passed I would still have to appear in court for the other tickets.
It’s been 2 months and I have not gotton a letter from the state.  My court date has come and gone and my name was not on the docket.  I have a lawyer.  He says they are still considering charges but they have not given us the results of the blood test.  We don’t know if they have the results.
When they took the blood sample I had been on an IV for fluids for 30 minutes and I had also been shot up with some iodine for a cat scan.  All of this was done before the blood was taken.  Could it be that those fluids screwed up my sample and the prosecuters are trying to figure up some other way to make the charges stick?
My lawyer says to just wait.  he says it’s a good thing that they have not officially pressed charges and he doesn’t want to press them about the blood sample.  He says the longer we wait the better the chances.
My fear is this.  I had only had 2 beers earlier in that day.  They charged me with a DUI and that blood sample was my only real evidence that I was under the limit.  It had been over an hour since I drank those beers before I drove.  I am 5 foot 8 and weigh 135 pounds.  If they screwed up my blood sample it might be a plus for them that the results were tainted.  My county prosecutes DUI’s to the MAX.  No breaks.  NO deals.  My lawyer says that no matter what they will pursue the case and I will have to go to a jury trial to beat it.  Then it is their word against mine and even with no evidence I could lose.  That costs a lot of money and stress and I cannot have a DUI on my record because my job requires me to travel and rent cars.
Any cops out there have any thoughts?  Should my innocense be compromised because a cop didn’t get his blood the right way?  I cooperated completely with this officer.  I even offered to blow in the thing, but he said it wouldn’t be good enough because the breath tester they carry in the car is ust an indicater.  Since I would not be going to the station then I would have to give blood in order for the BAC test to be official.  I complied.
Yeah dipshit is an appropriate name for you.  I said I have a lawyer.  Can’t you read?
Ok I must clarify something. They took blood because I was in the hospital strapped to a bed.  I had a neck injury and was not going to be released to the custody of the police.  Since the official breath test anylizer is at the police station they insisted that I give them a blood sample instead or I would be automatically revoked the same way I would have been if I had refused a breath test at the station.
