I am an x-ray tech and you make under 20 to start 15+ out of school.
The work is hard, MRI tech do on the job training and get paid a little more.
Yes, you need to become an x-ray tech and then the hospitals normally train you from within and promote from within.
I have worked in IL, MO, and now FL as an x-ray tech.
Email me and I can tell more.

I would probably go to school to be a radiologic technologist first so you would be able to become a MRI tech. As far as pay goes radiology technologists do make anywhere from $19-25 dollars an hour starting off. This depends on where you work and what shift you work. There are all sorts of shifts in hospitals you can work or you can try to get a job in a out pt. center and have more normal hours. By the way MRI and Nuclear Medicine are not the same thing; MRI is magnetic and Nuc Med. is radioactive. It can be a difficult program especially if you don’t know your human anatomy. Good luck young fellow. Keep reading about dead people.
