My parents have blue cross blue shield as their insurance?

I am 18 years old and I was in a dirtbike accident I was riding in the ditch and going about 30 miles per hour. There was a huge hole in the ditch and I didn’t see it because the grass was a little big, so when I hit the hole I lost control and fell. I had a helmet (0 professional helmet) which probably saved my life because when I fell I hit my head really hard and suffered a concussion. I also had a little bleeding from my kidneys because my body hit the handle bars. Well I was taken to the hospital, and they took Cat-scans and stuff and said I was okay. I only had a mild concussion and the kidney bleeding would go away if I drank a lot of fluids. This has been two months ago and the hospital just called because the insurance needs more information about the accident. Should I worry about this? Will they not cover the medical bill?

Additional details: I was riding a CRF230F. This is a trail bike not a racing bike. It has 230cc engine. I have been riding dirtbikes since the age of 5 but don’t have a motorcycle license but I never ride on the road just in the ditch, or inside my yard ( I have a one acre yard). I don’t have motorcycle insurance, but I don’t care about the bike. Will the insurance cover this? If it won’t why won’t it cover?

Your BC/BS should cover it OK, unless you were racing professionally; then it might not. BC/BS probably wants to verify whether you were racing or not. Without reading the exclusions in the policy, though, we can’t say for sure.

Some insurance companies will try to say you were on a state or county Right Of Way and will not cover this as you do not have a license and the bike is not street legal. Contact your insurance and find out if you are covered and if so when will they will pay.
