MRI training is not the same as X-ray. The certification is different. I’ve seen 5 wk course for MRI cert.?

Can you list training centers for MRI Tech specifically?

You need to call up your local technical college or the radiology dept at your local hospital for this information. It is usually offered somewhere near a med. center that has a MRI machine tucked away somewhere. It wouldn’t do you any good probably to state it is offered here in rural north central florida from time to time.
You know you can become a LPN licensed practical nurse for about 1 year. That is not much time. You make a good bit more than “helper” occupations. You won’t be a RN though but you can still apply your credits toward becoming an RN in the future.
If you want this job you need to take a course in medical terminology or make sure it is in the syllabus.

Are you already a rad tech? There’s no way in hell I would let Joe Schmo do an MRI on me after only 5 weeks of training.

I’m a R.T.(R) currently pursuing my MRI certificate. The community college I’m attending requires me to complete 320 clinical hours and 8 credit hours of didactic courses. Even with the required 320 clinical hours, I doubt I’ll have enough scans to complete the requirements to sit for the ARRT MRI exam. Might want to do a little more research there, check out http://www.arrt.org.
