Mammography technician…starting college later in life?
Hey everyone, so my mom never got a college degree she graduated high school and worked two jobs her whole life. She’s always been involved with insurance but now she’s thinking of going back to school for mammography. She’s not really sure if she has to get her AA or if she can simply go to a school solely based on radiology and x-ray techs like how many people with go to a school like Everest University and become nurses assistants. If anyone has any names they could give me or some helpful information that would be so appreciated. I’m trying to do research but sometimes it’s nice to hear from someone whose gone through it or knows someone who did and has some good pointers. Thank you guys so much

Check out what sorts of programs are available via your local community college. See if they offer programs that would get her into this field.
Talk to them, and to people actually working in this field, about what the demand is like where you live. Are there jobs available, or was everyone just laid off? Is there a specific type of accreditation your program has to have in order to make you employable?

Mammography technologists are radiologic technologists with additional training. She needs to start at an accredited radiography program, which you can find here: https://www.arrt.org/index.html?content=nd/listOfSchools.ndm/listSchools&iframe=yes
