Is it hard being an ultrasound technician?

I’m kinda interested in being an ultrasound technician (for pregnancy’s) and was wondering what it is like?
Is the job hard?
Are the classes hard?
How much will you probably get paid for it? (I will probably be living in the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia)
What do you really do as an ultrasound tech?

Here in the US, an ultrasound technician can make up to $80k a year, which is really good. The job is hard, I recommend you go to an ultrasound tech school.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography requires much more than people realize, and we do much more than pregnancies. We scan virtually the entire body, from head to toe – abdomens, thyroids, scrotums, breasts, etc. In school you have to learn it all, but after graduating you can choose to work exclusively in obstetrics. It can be a demanding and stressful career, considering that if you don’t scan well or get lazy, you can easily miss a mass, blood clot, etc. I would highly recommend job shadowing a sonographer to see what it’s really like.

Yes, the schooling is tough. Not only are you learning about the body in great detail, as well as pathology/abnormalities, and how to recognize them on ultrasound, you are also learning a hands-on skill.
