I want to become a Ultrasound Technician, what’s the most simple way?

I graduated highschool in 2009. I have a trade of Cosmetology, but I really don’t enjoy it. I just finished school to become a wedding and event planner, but as we all know, this economy isn’t favoring specialtys such as hiring a pricey planner for your wedding. So, like everyone else in the hunt for a job, I’m turning to the medical field. Ultrasound Technician interests me alot. Can anyone tell me how I can get this? No community college in my state holds any classes for this. HELP!!!!

Check with your local hospital they might be able to set you up for training and perhaps pay you to train? I hope this works out for you. happy Holidays

It’s actually called a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, and you have to go through an accredited program specifically for Sonography. These programs are most commonly offered at technical colleges as a 2 year associate’s degree program. Once you find a program (see link) just contact the school and they can tell you what steps to take from there (all schools vary slightly on the requirements).

If your state has NO accredited programs, I would seriously consider going out of state for school. If you go through a NON-accredited program, you will have to work for 1 year in the field before you are qualified to take the board exams to be registered. The problem with this is that most employers require you to already be registered before they will hire you.
